Anxiety

Anxiety is part of life and helps us get places on time, study hard and
not make careless errors. However for some individuals it can become
pervasive and crippling as it no longer connects with real life demands
and stresses but takes on a life of its own. Some people will worry
ceaselessly, others have symptoms that effect them physically such as
panic attacks and still others will suffer from unwelcome obsessions
and compulsive behaviors. Fortunately many of these problems are
highly treatable and can be alleviated with medications and
psychotherapy. Anxiety disorders have always been of great interest to
me and I like to put my knowledge into action to help people who suffer
from anxiety problems. I have taught other physicians about anxiety
over the years and wrote this article on the topic several years ago.
